2 questions... how to merge databases.. and how safe are ip address ?

ok, for the first one I did some research on mysql.com and I found the SELECT INSERT statemetn, i'm pretty sure this is wha ti'll need to do, only thing is that It's between to databases...

so if i right a script and connect ot both databases is there some way I can just copy everything in the database?

i know there's someway of listing the tables in a database and that's what I could do... just select it all and in a while statement for the listing the tables just insert them into the other database..

only thing is, i don't know the table list mysql command.

and is there a command for listing of the fields name?

(now that I run throught his, i better run this on a test database first LOL)

and secondly, how secure is it to use ip's stored (encrypted) in teh database, to pull back out information?

I'm thinking it'd be pretty safe, but that wouldn't work very well with networks and such.

i've tried cookies and they do not seem to work at all well for me.

but, I will try that again.

Are you talking about 2 database with the same structure? Both have information and you need to get both sets of information into one database? Is this a one time deal, or a regular occurance?

it's a one time deal and i mean move the whole table...
so let's say i have a database

database_name1.table_name

and i have a database

database_name2 -> create's table_name and inserts all it's rows.

You can check out the dump commands for mysql, but the easiest route would be to use a database utility like mysql front, mysql control center, mascon, phpmyadmin, etc to access your database and do a dump of data and structure for the tables you need, and save it as a .sql file. Then just access the other database and execute the .sql file. It should only take a couple of minutes.

ok, that's what my original plan was. Just thought i'd ask if there was a better route.
