PHP will not set correct permissions

I just had a relatively new install of PHP on my linux 7.3 box running plesk5 for vhosting. I can mod any of the root files cause I own the server. I am assuming this is a setting I will have to fix.

When I try to create a folder using a php script, the folder is created fine, however, the permissions are automatically set to 411 instead of why I specified (in this case 777). I tried throwing a chmod() after the create the folder, but that doesn't change the perms either. I am thinking this is a php setting problem. Help!

777 decimal = 1411 OCTAL.

chmod() and mkdir() need the permissions to be specified as OCTAL not decimal if you want to use the normal chmod numbers.

0777 is octal, 777 is decimal

0777 octal = 511 decimal

How did you miss that one Dale?

lol... thanks guys. I figured it out just as you replied. I knew it needed to be octal but I didn't think about it needing 4 digits instead of 3 (which switches it to dec). Thanks for the help!

Of course it goes without saying that 777 is generally a Bad Idea... better to have process and script ownership aligned so that 777 is not required.
