Hi. Do you know of any good template engine without caching and the advanced features that Smarty and similar engines offer? I need a simple but powerful enough template system, not another programming language!

have you tried phplib. It's very simple and effective. I've attached a copy.
I've even got a version where I can use it against text extracted from MySql rather than the traditional file based systems.
