[Resolved] cookies / sessions - expire

is it possible to create either a session or cookie which never expires. unless ofcourse its deleted from the hard-drive?

set the cookie to expire after 3-10 years. that should be a good period.

Hi,
if let be never=100 years, yes.
You can put as expire time 100 or more years in future.
Because a cookie with no expire-time, is deleted after
user disconnect...

lets just hope the user still isnt alive in a 100 years, otherwise they'd have to click remeber my preference again!

an security measures remain like they are now.

i can forsee biometric authentication to be a common thing 20 years from now.

Just for information...
Other than a guy that live more than 100 years (and its HD too...) 😃, Netscape's documentation say also this:

Navigator will also delete a cookie before its expiration date arrives if the number of cookies exceeds its internal limits.

At the time of documentation (~NS4.0) this limit are:
- 300 total cookies
- 4 kilobytes per cookie, where the name and the OPAQUE_STRING combine to form the 4 kilobyte limit.
- 20 cookies per server or domain. Completely specified hosts and domains are considered separate entities, and each has a 20 cookie limitation.

I ask myself if is valid today too...
