ok...this is probably simple, but i am having trouble searching and finding the answer to my question.

i have a varable that contains a filename. the filename is a series of letters followed by the date. i want to have an if statement that if the letters HDIF are in the variable do something...

anyone know how to do this? thanks in advance.

strstr()
or for regex,
preg_match()
