More sql stuff

okie so im still working on my little program....

i need to be able to look at a columb in my database, and pick out the highest number, or top three highest numbers at that....

Im making a high score list.....

How you would you guys recomend i do this????

Just change the 3 to however many you want selected.

$query="SELECT column FROM table LIMIT 3 ORDER BY DESC";

okie dokie....how do i acces those three tho....im guessing it puts it into an array...but i dont really know how to access it in columbs like that

I don't know what purpose you have with the result of your query, but if the only point is to write out the results, you could do something like this:

$sql = "SELECT boardAlias FROM BoardMembers ORDER BY boardAlias LIMIT 3";
$var = mysql_query($sql);

while($row = mysql_fetch_array($var)){
	echo "".$row['boardAlias']."<br>";
	}

Good. I guess you noticed that i accidently left out "DESC" in the sql-statement. The standard is that an mysql_query() will sort the result ascending, so if you would like to sort descending you'll have to write:

$sql = "SELECT boardAlias FROM BoardMembers ORDER BY boardAlias [U]DESC[/U] LIMIT 3";
