I can't figure out the following.

suppose:
I've got a db with one table, called place.

I would like to search this from flashMX with a texfield. If a user enters three letters it has to return all places beginning with those three letters.

So far so good. But what it does is when i type "new" it returns New-york, New-York, New-haven.

I would like .php to get the duplicates out after the search. So it has to search, find, match it agains the already found and then continue..

like i said, i can't figure out a way to do this. Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish this?

if your problem it's just the case of words, try with a select like this

"SELECT DISTINCT UPPER(place) ..."
