plz help me with textarea

hey guys

heres what i wanna do

i got this textarea right from html
i also have within that textarea the funtion <?php Include("blah.php"); ?>

now that as you all know, will take the content of blah.php and put it in my textarea , where i can there edit it ( pretend it was news on a small web site).

my question is, by using the update command as following:

mysql_query("UPDATE seb SET name=' alalalal' WHERE id=3", $db);

i wanna replace the value of "name" wich is currently "alalalal' " to whatever was edited in my textarea.

p.s the attribute name 's type is text.

Well i assume that you will be submitting the page and then trying to save the data.
once you submit the data you'll be able to access the data thats in the text box using its name.
if the name of the text box is text, then $_POST['text'] will get you the value / data in the text box (assuming that the submit method is post). Try it out.

yea ok,

but i dont have a clue how to code a submit button besides this line "<input type="submit" value="save">"

so how would i code the button to take whats in my textarea "<TEXTAREA ROWS="30" COLS="90">" to take whatever content is in there and update it using the command

"mysql_query("UPDATE seb SET name='aaaaaaa' WHERE id=3", $db);"

where name='aaaaaaa' would be the content of the textarea.

submit button code may have a value, but you need to give it a name too, like the one below.

when you click on the save button it will submit the page.
then you will see in the url the name of the text box and the data that you have entered.
So now all you have to do is to retrieve the code from the url using the "HTTP_GET_VARS" method and insert it into the query.

i posted an answer this problem on another forum but i accedentally used insert instead of update, if you were going to use the textarea to submit it automatically update the table you would use:

$input = mysql_escape_string($_POST['text_area_name']);
$link = mysql_connect($yourIP);
$db = mysql_select_db($yourDB, $link);
$query = mysql_query("UPDATE table_name SET field_name='$input'");
mysql_close($link);
?>

You would get the text_area_name from a form that you had already created, and the action of the form would be that script.
