php login script not working just in IE

I really cant stand IE...

I am creating and intranet, and have a few sections that are going to be password protected, i have used the base of code from http://free2code.net/ its from the php login tutorial. I have it all set up and customised for my site, but for some readon, it will not work in internet explorer, but it works fine in Opera. What I mean by not working is that I can login fine, but whenever I navigate to a page (php) that checks to make sure if I'm logged in it says I am not logged in, and it works fine in Opera!!

This is really important, so I was looking to see if anyone had any insight into this problem... it seems like microsoft is not allowing the cookie to come through.

furthermore, when i make the intranet site an exception in my privacy settings and let everything through (use an ip instaead of DNS name) it works as well. I would just change the settings, but there is no way i would be able to do that on all the computers that will be accessing it.

there has to be something I'm doing wrong, or some other work around. please let me know if you have any ideas!

Make sure that IE is not blocking any cookies set by the site. IE usually does this when it thinks a third party is setting the cookie. So make sure that when you set the cookie, its from the same domain.

what do u mean, i have the cookie vailid for my domain.... do i need to set the cookie name in the php.ini to my domain name as well???

Well, wat i mean is, if u call ur script like [url]http://sub1.-domain.com/[/url] but it gets redirected to the actual ip address, IE will think the cookies r set by a third party.

A good example wudd b, say I have a redirection service account in CJB.net. so my-account.cjb.net gets redirectd to my IP address.

So when u set the cookie, it automatically sets the domain as ur IP, but since its different from what u used to call the script, IE will think its a third party cookie n block it.

One way to find out is to look for that red eye icon in the status bar, when ur visiting the page.

ok, well the site is actually an intranet (no outside access) so the address is http://intranet/ and it can be accessed via an ip too. so the session is started in a subdirectory ie http://intranet/login/ and simply fowards you to a page in the same directory, and on any content pages, there is a small script that checks the login...

so, i don't see how ie can see it as a third party...
