okay, you have an upload form, works perfectly, problem is, you have a 56 k line, and 50 1meg files to upload, this proposes a problem.

the solution? speed up the upload times right?

well how do we do this?

is there possibly a way to compress the files before uploading them? Not having the client go through, and selecting all the files he wants compressed, then opening winzip/rar adding them to archive etc. but having internet explorer doing it?

you can have php do it, but the files have to get uploaded first anyway, so that wouldn't work they way you want it to

would it be possible to perhaps write a java applet that would be able to do it?

not sure about java, i have not done anything like that in java(only done simple calculators, image fading, etc...), but someone else may know, or maybe check out a java forum
