I am getting a SQL error on my mainpage, and a whole module has gone down. We have no webmaster, so I don't know how it was setup, but it is a major crisis. Can anyone help me with ideas on how to fix it. See our website for the error.

It sounds as if mysql has gone down. Assuming this is a redhat linux box, or something close, try:
service mysqld start
as root, and see what you get.
