searching through strings

okay, say i have a HUGE string, and i want to search through it for this line (as well as lines similar to this, just things between the tags changed)

how exactly would i go about doing this?

preg_match( '/<strong class="name">.*?<\/strong>/',$ldata,$hugestring);

print_r($hugestring);

i get an error with your code though:

You lost a ...
For reg exp "/" it's a command, so we have to escape it. When you wirte closing tag you have to use <\/sometag> instead </sometag>

I hope this make sense.

anyway is:

if ( preg_match( '/.*?<\/strong>/',$info)){ ... }

is there any way to just get what's between the tags, as opposed to the tags, AND whats inside them?

okay, as it is, it returns these values in the array:

<strong class="bizName">Something1</strong>
<strong class="bizName">Something2</strong>
<strong class="bizName">Something3</strong>
<strong class="bizName">Something4</strong>

i just want it to return

Something1
Something2
Something3
Something4

if you use () you can get different array:

preg_match_all( '/()(.*?)(<\/strong>)/',$info,$result))

will give $result[0], $result[1] and more.
Any of that it's what you find. Try with print_r()
