Problems with PHP / Apache...who knows

Ok, I've got a Windows webserver running Apache 2.0.46 and PHP 4.3.2. And a ton of things aren't working in there. $PHP_AUTH_USER / PASS isn't working at all, variables won't get submitted right in get or post, and some chunks of code that ran before don't work at all. Can someone please help me? I'm building a site for a clan, and they're not very amused with the time I'm taking to make everything work. Can someone please help me? I'll give more details if necessary.

are you using global varables correctly?

$_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER']

rather than $PHP_AUTH_USER, as most likely global variables is not turned on in php.ini, as it is defaulted to off for good security reasons.
