Avoiding Duplicate Inserts via Refreshing

On one page of my site there's a form which collects information from the user. This information is then passed to a second page which actually contains the php and sql which inserts the users information into the database. What I'm trying to prevent is the user from being able to insert the same information again by clicking on refresh. The primary key changes, of course, but all of the info from the first page just gets inserted into record after record as long as they keep hitting refresh. I'm trying to think of some way to detect whether they clicked refresh or test for a variable's existence...I know this must be a simple thing, since most forms that I see are actually processed on the next page. What can I do?

try using a select function before you insert, looking for fields which already have the same values... i.e.

if you want to enter a person's details, name, age, sex, location... before you insert into the database, try:

select * from PersonTb where name='".$name."' AND age='".$age."' AND sex='".$sex."' AND location='".$location."'

and if it does already exist, dont enter the new record.
