Only show ROW once

I was wonding if any of you had a solution to this problem:

I am retreving data from a MySQL database and in some cases the same row is brought back more than one as it is in a loop, is there anyway in which i can add the row ID to an array or something and then make sure it is not brought back again?

No, theres no error, its just cause i loop for several "searched" words the same row can be brought back more than once if the words are in the same row so i was wondering how can i stop this from occuring?

Something like:

$rows = array();
while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result))
{
  $id = $row['id'];
  $rows[$id] = $row;
}
/* Now run through rows and output results */
