too many polls!

not counting this one or stickies, 9 out of the top ten threads on the list here in the EL are polls.

now this isn't a bad thing, or rather wouldn't normally be, but:

two of them are repolls (the comp<->server one and the editor one),
three are really old,
one's by me (so it doesn't matter and shouldnt be on the board in the first place 😉),
one's been dealt with numerous times before (echo or print?:rolleyes: ),
and one's been dealt with once before (the other time being in here also)(although this one goes a bit deeper).

that leaves ONE poll, the "HTML is a programming language" one, that has any real value and isnt that old. (the non-poll is about php5 & SQLite). now correct me if im wrong but isnt this a bit much? i mean ive had conitnual new post notices in my CP and most have turned out to be newvotes. should new votes really count? and no i'm NOT going to start a poll 😃.

just wonderin if anyone else has been annoyed by this (especcially those of you who post a lot more than i do)

this happens because if you poll, even not post anything, the poll is updated (with bug's swarm in the bag...)...

i know why it happens--i even realize that its a 'feature'. but i dont think it's a very good feature. bunker, do you mean yeah, as in yes theyshould count, or ya u've been annoyed? lol maybe i SHOULD post a poll.........

Any example happens just now. I haven't post anything but i'm first in new post with poll about male/female because someone poll-it.... It's good? I think need a poll to know what guys think about this...

Yeah, but I made both of those polls and I've only been here for less than two weeks. I didn't know that those polls even existed.

I actually find polls kind of hilarious.

But yeah, you're right, there are too many. I don't care about mine; I'd never bump them...

I mentioned in another thread that I'm thinking it is a very Good Thing to limit polls to 30 days, or so ... that's a poster function, you know.

You spend time getting the options right, and then you think, "Oh, who cares, let 'em vote forever ..."

However, a year or so after the community moves to vBulletin, and we see what we get with that procedure ...

Unfortunately, I can't go back and change my polls ... but Mods can edit polls, right? Can you close the poll but not the thread? Or will we need to beg JS to beg the admins to alter the db manually (shiver --- the way it's been lately, this sounds dangerous .... ) ??

There's a reason my experiment poll doesn't have a limit. I have no idea how long the experiment is going to take...
