imagerotate function undefined?

i've seen a couple of posts that mention the problem with the imagerotate function returning an 'undefined function' error message.

but nobody has explained why this happens, or how to fix it, short of rebuilding php .. which i tried, to no avail.

anyone know how to solve this?

Do you have the GD library installed, and was PHP compiled to support it?

yup. gdlib is installed and php is compiled with gd. i checked the php info page and other gd functions that i've tried (imagecreate, imagecopy, imagejpeg,imagecolorallocatealpha [only 4.3.2]) are all working fine.

only imagerotate is giving me problems. very frustrating.

any ideas?
