Checking for post

I'd like to check to see if a style var was posted from a form but it's not quite working right. I also don't know if it's returning true or false...

if(!$_POST["gold_on_black"] ) {# display red_on_white

would this work?

if($_POST["gold_on_black"] == 0) { #display red_on_white

I'm assuming it's going to post the value of the selected option in a drop-down box which would be "gold_on_black".

Try an isset, that will tell you if it's getting there or not

if (isset($_POST['whatever'])) { echo "True"; }else{ echo "False"; }

I just thought it posted the selected value but I guess it was never posting because the select dropdown was never named.

Now, how would I write it if the select dropdown box was name="style" and a selected option's value was "gold_on_black"?

Something like if($_POST["style"] == "gold_on_black") { #display this style}
else {#display this style}???
