Extract domain from URL

I have a list of referers, and I want to be able to list just the domain name without all the garbage at the end.

For example:
http://www.domain.com/directory/
http://www.google.com/?q=blahblahblahblahblahb
http://www.angelfire.com/someUser/index.html

Would return:
http://www.domain.com/
http://www.google.com/
http://www.angelfire.com/

Any ideas on how to do this?

Nevermind, I found it in the manual. Imagine that.

// get host name from URL 
preg_match("/^(http:\/\/)?([^\/]+)/i", 
"http://www.php.net/index.html", $matches); 
$host = $matches[2]; 

// get last two segments of host name 
preg_match("/[^\.\/]+\.[^\.\/]+$/",$host,$matches); 
echo "domain name is: ".$matches[0]."\n";

You could also use parse_url. Just a suggestion.
