Need advice on a membership database code

Hello, I just signed up. This site has been very good to me. But I need some help. On my site http://www.focusmotorsports.com I am trying to make it look really good so that it becomes big. But I would like to figure out some sort of code that will allow people with their cars to have a members section.

This isn't a private area, it is where they can get a password for editing their info, but they would be able to upload images of their car, their names, e-mail and information on their vehicle and year, make, model and current motorsports they are involved in.

Kinda like if someone was submitting an item in a database for used cars. They can log back in later on to edit it if they have to, but the information that they input is made available to the public.

And their password and user name will be e-mail to the owner.

I wish I knew how to do this, but I don't. Could someone point me in the right direction or be willing to help.

Sounds like a big project. One rule of business is "never code something you can buy for less effort/money". You might look around the web for "PHP blogs", maybe at www.sourceforge.net, for example. PHPNuke I imagine you've at least heard of.

If you wanna do it yourself, for whatever reason, learn as much about PHP as you can (like good books, the Handbook, tutorials at Zend, here, etc.), then take it one step and a time, and steel yourself for a long struggle.
