MySQL number problem

Anyone know how to make MySQL and php so either don't round a number by cutting off the zeros at the end? I would make it text but i have to add the numbers.

I have the number field in MySQL set as a decimal right now, but when i fetch and intered number (5.00) it prints as 5.

Anyone know how to prevent this from happening?

What is the full type description of the column? Because if you have DECIMAL(3,5), for example, you should get up to 3 digits before, and 5 digits after the decimal point, even if all 5 of the digits afterward are zeros.

Conversely, you could try using [man]number_format/man in PHP when formatting the output.
