adding description to fotos

i have a script that lists photos in a directory.

say if i have a photo called mount everest.jpg

is there a way i can create a text file called mount everest.txt and inside the text file have a description about that photo.. and have the text in the text file display under the photo?. i thought of using the same file names for the image and the text because i will have them all in the same directory and they want to automatically appear under the correct images.

Sure... generally speaking, you'd:

1. Take the name of the photo, strip the .jpg
2. Add .txt to make the new filename
3. Read that file into a variable
4. Display it

This might look something like:

$name = 'photo.jpg';
$a = explode('.', $name);   // ditch the suffix
$newfilename = $a[0].'.txt';    // build new filename
$x = file_get_contents($newfilename);  // read file into var
echo $x;   // display caption

does it matter that there will be alot of different .jpg and .txt

eg.

1.jpg 1.txt
2.jpg 2.txt
ect//

do i need to have a copy ov that script for each foto, or just one?

that script will work for whatever variable you plug in, so you could have one script that reads the directory and displays the photo and captino for each, or you could have a separate script for each photo-- it's your call.
