Any ideas on how to fill an area with lext?

Hi,
I am trying to find a way to fill a select box's options so that the end result will look like this:

[Intel P4 3.0Gig................................................add $299.00]
[Intel P4 2.8Gig CPU........................................add $269.00 ]

The Problem is that spaces take up less room then a normal character and the text is never the same.... Any thought on how to divide it up and use align to just seperate the two without spaces??

[Intel P4 2.66Gig Processor add $219.00]

Any thoughts or suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated!

well, if you use a monospace font spaces should be the same width as other characters.

dont think you can align text within an option that way, with or without PHP.

It might be possible to determine the length of the left substring then pad with spaces as needed, appending the right substring.
