passing arrays

i have been passing variables between scripts by appending the variable onto the end of the url like so:

<a href="gohere.php?customer=$cust_id>"

or something similar, for situations where a form cannot be used.

what i need to know is whether or not it is possible to pass a whole array over in this way, and if it is possible, how do i do it?

i've tried many ways and cant work it out.

You have to serialize the array, for example:

PHP 1:

$array = array("element1","element2");
$arraySerialized = base64_encode(serialize($array));
print '<input type="hidden" name="array" value ="'.$arraySerialized.'">';

And PHP 2 (to get the array):

$array = unserialize(base64_decode($_POST["array"]));
