Mail() function takes very very long time to get processed ?????

mail function of php takes very long time to get processed...
I dunno why it is happening.. Is it a bug of php on my server or my php.ini settings are wrong ??

What shud i check to see that it shud work properly..

Is it a problme of sendmail on my server ??

Seems a problem with your sendmail.

Can you do a "telnet localhost 25" from your shell ?
If the server answers slow (like from php) you or your administrator must configure correctly the sendmail.

Anyway, you can use any smtp class for send mails throw other smtp server.
