compare dates

im trying to filter results from my database according to a date. how would i do this in the query? you cant just use the <> operators can you? i remember in my SQL class we couldnt do that. but i could be mistaken with something else. please help

Most databases will in fact let you use > and < for date fields. If they don't they're broken and should be replaced with a proper database (like Firebird or Postgresql.)

select * from table where date > '1964-03-11' and date < '1965-03-11'

should work a charm.

Actually, he moved the subject from coding to databases when he decided to look for an answer in SQL, which would be, IMNSHO, the right thing.

Sure, that would be a nice thing too. Can users move posts from one forum to another, or is that a moderator only job?

But still, it wasn't the same as asking the exact same question in general, coding, and database at the same time, which is what I thought you were implying at first.

i just don't know for sure, but if you want to try, you can post one in the linux help forum and try to move it to the nusphere ed or zend studio forums to test it, i mod both of those so you shouldn't catch flack
