gd_info

Hi.....

I need to create a basic php page that will display whether GD is installed on the server that the particular page is on....

ive got

<?php
var_dump(gd_info());
?>

and that displays an array of items...

But what i need is just a simple

Yes GD is installed on this server.

Unfortunately GD is not installed on this server.

Could someone help me out/point me in the right direction?

Maybe you could take advantage of the fact that gd_info() is not defined if GD is not installed.

So try

if (count(@gd_info()) == 0)
	echo "GD is (probably) not installed";
else
	echo "GD is installed!";

You might have to tweak to
count(@gd_info()) > 1

Also, this method will definitely fail for versions prior to PHP4.3.0

is there another method that will work accross other php versions aswell.....

I'm not sure.

Come to think about it, you could extrapolate the idea that the function is not defined if the library is not installed to the other image functions.

I'm not entirely sure if this is true, however.
You'll have to experiment.

Im new to PHP unfortunately...... the code above works on 4.3.2 like you said and doesnt on 4.2.3 like you said it wouldnt....

Can you explain a little bit more what you mean... sorry to seem so dumb.... this is just new to me..

it might.

but the problem is that even if GD is installed, if the version of PHP is before 4.3.0, you wont get what you expect.

So is there anyway of doing this simply across the entire ph 4.x range?
