i'm working on a search script that searches for items.
say i am searching for an item called "Notebook"

other rows that have the letters "oo" in it shows up, how do i build a more accurate search script?

any snippets so i can improve my script would be helpful.

LIKE in sql or LIKE in PHP? 😃

in PHP

if (eregi("*oo*",$data))
{
     echo "oo was found!";
}
else { echo "oo is missing!"; }

in SQL

SELECT * FROM table WHERE column LIKE '%oo%'

are you using a database?

If so then you could always use fulltext search option (from mysql v4.00 upwards)

yes mysql database, how do i do that?
i just want it to be more accurate, if i am searching for "SCRIPT" i dont want words containing "RIP" to show up.
