Safest/Best Forums??

Hi all,

I'm building a site which will should get a high amount of general users. I'll also be setting up a community forum for users to discuss things directly related to the site content.

My question is - which forum software is the best to use in terms of security, risk of hacking?? I'm familiar with PHPBB so may go with that unless someone has anything to persuade me otherwise!

I would feel that there are "hacks" that you can install in phpbb to make it safer and I think it is one of if not the best forum out there.

YES I agree - the free factor is a big plus!!!!

Does PHPBB issue the "hacks" themselves?

Also, would you recommend that I switch off PM? It's not essential for my users however I would like the moderators and admin to be able to use it!
