Searching files

Can anyone help me out. How would I go about creatin a search box for several different files, in different locations. My file structure is as such:

main folder
|subfolder
|files
|files
|subfolder
|files
|files
|subfolder
|files
|_files

I want to be able to search all the files like a search engine, where I would type in a specific word, and then a listing would come up with all the documents containing that that word.

well you can recursivly search each directory opening each file and reading the contents in or you can put it in a database adn use sql query.
