howto: Create Database

Hey all, I would tell you Ima noob but that is the reason I am posting in here... why all those people say that in the title I don't understand but haha anyway...

I am having trouble creating a database. I am trying to do this with a Mysql db... I can connect to the host just fine, I just can't get the DB Created. Here is my last effort...

$result = mysql_query ("CREATE DATABASE Hits_Monitor_DB", $connection);

any ideas?

Well, does the user you are connecting to the database with have permissions to create a database?

I am pretty sure. It is the same user that was configured to complete my invision board forum... That had to create DBs...

BTW, I can connect just fine, are those two diff securities?

Yes connecting and creating are 2 different permissions.

I'd double check that you are connecting as the same user. Also if you have shell access to the host machine I try accessing mysql as that user and executing your create command there to see what type of error the db is giving.

woghain was absolutely correct. And I do believe if you had right to perform the action, the above attempt was the proper format!
