A friend of mine would like to start learning php, he has a basic understanding of modern programming languages and caught up with the basics of html, what else should he know, do you reccommand any kind of newbie Intro to PHP tuts or anything? Thanks

I think he can start to learn the same way when you started to learn. 🙂
I personally start with a think PHP tutorial book (since it explains more in basic n simple form and able to point to some important things for beginner). Google should be considered to search for more tutorial.

I personally learnt from Webmonkey, but that's not the best place to learn. After that, I picked some PHP up here and there, and I learnt quite a lot from php.net. There are countless PHP tutorials out there. Choose the one you think is best and is best suited to what your friend wants to do.

well I started out with alot of programming knowledge with languages such as C# and VB.NET, my friend is starting only with VERY limited html knowledge, I was just wondering what was the best way to help him understand the basics of how a modern programming language such as PHP works, how the server parses it, how it is dynamic, database integration etc etc.. if there are any articles on that(i googled, didnt turn out any good results) please help us out, thankz.
