Limit to form variables???

What is the realistic limit to the number of variables that can be passed by a form using the POST method? I'm on a gigabit intranet so speed is not my limiting variable and I would like to develop some very large forms (200 to 300 textboxes).

Better yet, is there a better way to pass a large number of user entered variables for database entry?

Do you really think that your users will fill out 200-300 form fields? I think you'll find that once you have this built that it never gets used. Noone wants to spend there time filling out all of that data.

It's their job to fill in the data. I'm am very confident that they will fill in every field. But thanks for looking out for me.

Ok, but I still think that you could make a better design that works over multiple pages.

But to answer you original question which I see that I forgot to answer in my original post. I don't believe that there is any limit (besides bandwidht and server memory) that would prevent you from submitting a form with 200-300 fields.
