Variable in a variable name

Hi, I was wondering how to use the value of a variable as part of another variable's name.

For example:

$news_writer = user1

echo '${$news_writer}cap';

In this situation I'm trying to echo the value of the variable 'user1cap'. Is this right?

$varOne = 'my';
$varTwo = $varOne . "_hat";

$$varTwo = "blue baseball cap";

I now have three variables:
$varOne is my
$varTwo is my_hat
$my_hat is blue baseball cap

if I were to change $varOne to your I would have
$varOne is your
$varTwo is your_hat
$your_hat is blue baseball cap
