Auto populate form from DB

Hi All,

I have an order form online, and when the user enters an item number (item_num) in the form, and moves to the next field, I would like the form to auto-populate with the information related to the item_num, ex.. desc, price, quantity, etc...

I know I have to use javascript to get the on tab or on click action to get the form to update, but how would you setup the db pull and the populate?

As javascript is running on the client browser and the database is on the server you'll need to pass all the data to the page, either creating js arrays in your php script or putting the data in hidden form fields.

If its a large database this may not be practicable proposition, in which case submit the form when the item is filled in and let php refresh the page with the data you want.
