No PHP

I've just attempted to install Apache 2.0.47.0 & PHP 4.3.2.2 on a clean (only major apps installed are Office XP, Partition Magic and full Acrobat 6} Windows 2000 SP4 installation on Drive F, As C is a FAT Partition (but have made a C:\temp) D is the main temp paging Disc and E is Windows 98.
The Apache install is J:\Servers\Apache Group\Apache2 and the PHP is J:\Servers\php4

My first attempt was manual, Apache installed okay and worked, I dropped in PHP, altered the httpd.conf and PHP.ini, restarted Apache, the Apache2 Service Monitor indicates it's installed.

Windows shows the php files loaded, but attempt to run a simple php info 'page' results in the text shown;

?>

okay, so I found the 'wise' installer version of PHP, used that - same result.

ditto with the two 'combined' packages.

complete removal of all the software and a reboot was done between each attempt.

Can anyone suggest anything?

If you're seeing the code, it means apache isn't parsing the file, it's just sending it to you.

I'm a Linux geek and have never used apache/php on windows, but in Linux the config has a line:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml

That needs to be added. This tells apache to parse it. 99% of the time I've seen the issue it's been because of that line missing in the config.

Yea wish it were that simple, have added that line, and it was put in on the 'automatic' installs. have checked against several 'how too' posts but to no avail
