Hello.

Well hopefully I'm not ravaged to e-death by making an introduction thread, like some people do on some message boards I've seen. I'm just now trying to get into PHP, I have a decent knowledge of HTML, and that's about it, I don't have programming background so this is my first attempt.

Anyway, my name is Jon, I'm 20, live in Denver, CO - attend school full time for my BS in Information System Security (done in March), and work full time as a Network Operations Technician at DMX MUSIC. Between all that my time is pretty limited, so the php learning gets to fight with sleep time I guess. 🙂 For fun I enjoy hockey, computers (FreeBSD), music (punk), movies, and my message board. Anyway that's about it, hope to get to know some of you and learn a few things.

Hi, Jon! Don't believe at least 89% of what you read in the EL (Echo Lounge). Elizabeth is even nicer than Piersk...not that there's anything wrong with him...

Didja know that if you browse to www.php.net/somefunction it will take you to the manual entry for that function?

I dunno, I reckon we're about the same; she beats people with her LART (the pink fluffy one if you're lucky or the black spiky one if you're not), I get naked. It's all pretty much the same really...

Welcome, CR. Don't believe half of what you read here. But if Elizabeth's LART scares you, just go to the other forums... she's pretty much local to the Lounge area. 😉

Since everyone's giving you some light reading, be sure to take a look at the guidelines. The link is in my sig. Just be nice to everyone. Except Bunkermaster. He's over in France, so you can make fun of him all you want.

Yes, I caught that one recently --- probably in one of the "Intellitext" threads, (I know it was in the Feedback forum) but I'm not sure if the ["man"] tag works for just the [man]manual[/man]** itself ... and anything else requires me to type the [l]user a message telling them what to read ... not too much positive vibes returned on a RTFM post ...

I guess if CR wants to, he can put all the words in his posts in [man] tags and then click on them himself ...

I think the idea is that many newbies don't know what the function is they are looking for. [man] gives us the ability to easily point them in the direction of the proper function instead of having to figure out the URL ourselves
