cd-rom tracking (counting)

I have created a cd-rom with basic html and PDF pages.

Inside I would create an ID (image) that can upload from my website.

Each different cd have a unique number.
I would count now every time that image is uploaded (viewed).

This mean's that I can count how many times the CD is used when that computer is connected to the internet.

A little detail: everything has to be done without the owner can see something.

Somebody an ideae how I should work?

I would start with an url that do an action to my database.
The result of that script schould sent only the drawing to the right place.

you would need a program that opens a connection to your program in the background. You'll want to write this in a compiled language as the end user quite assuradly does not have php installed.

Make damn sure it does a silent fail if the person has no internet connection and be prepared for upset people when zone alarm (or some other firewall) tells them what you're doing.

I may do it.

Into the waranty I discribe that I am aload to count how many time's the are using the cd and I am leagely in order.

If the don't use my cd, the don't see what's inside.

The only thing is that I don't want to make errors.

If the see that the think it's a virus or a worm or something.
That something that I don't want.
