I am just starting to learn PHP. I would like to now what is the best way to install PHP, Apache and MySQL? I found packages from Zend, Nuke and others. Is one easier than the other? As you can tell, I am very new.

Which download of PHP,Apache,MySQL
If you are truly green in this and wouldn't want to go through a separate install of each and configuring one to work with the other, you can download an installer from www.foxserv.net, it will install apache, mysql, and php for you, they have both nix and win versions
nusphere and abriasoft both provide turn key solutions for apache, mysql &php on windows which i can recommend although
abriasoft doesn't seem to have updated its package since 2000
somebody suggested in this forum yesterday phpdev5
which is based on php 4.2.2 apache 2 and mysql 4
i installed this today and it worked fine on first inspection
kind regards
paul
I'll admit it, on my last install of these things, I took the easy way out and went with the FoxServ package. It was just plain faster than dl'ing and installing them all seperately.
There weren't really any quirks except setting up the Apache modules. But you'll see in the foxserv forums that it was noted how to do it painlessly and I've had no problems.
And if you want to set up a mail server to go with your WAMP setup (Win/Apache/mySQL/PHP) I would recommend Mercury Mail. I fought with a few other server packages for HOURS ... MM set up and had me emailing myself and adding users in about 20 minutes. (Of course, you'll want to have a domain name for the mail server idea to work. Dynamic DNS works - I use www.dyndns.org for a domain name to my cable connection at home.)
Thanks Everyone!
