hello,

i want to ask, if i'm using php code in web design, such like
include(xxx.php) in a php page, i got a page with up-down view...

like this.... include(1.php);include(2.php);include(3.php); then i got
[1
2
3]

the page i want to view is, [1 2 3]

my question is, if i want make a page with left-right view, how can i do that?

i found many ways but i still can't do that.... it still up-down view
help me please

The include() function in PHP is exacty equivalent to opening your file in notepad, copying the file contents, and pasting it into whatever file had the include() statemetn in it.

It has nothing to do with HTML and does not effect how HTML is presented or sent to the user.

If you can't figure out how to setup the layout of your website, you should go look for some HTML / CSS tutorials.

Posting some code might help if your'e still confused too...

Is this a frames question?

If I understand you correctly you need to find a line that reads something like


<FRAMESET rows="xx,yy,zz">

and change it to


<FRAMESET cols="xx,yy,zz">

I could be misunderstanding though.

Make sure that your included files don't have all of the header information too. (like <HEAD><TITLE> etc.) It is already on your main page. Having more than one can cause the page to error out in some browsers. It might be part of the problem you are experiencing now too.

i didn't use any frame. just usual html page in php code.

i didn't use any html tag such like <head> or <title>
because i wrote this in php code, tag such like that i didn't use that..... i just use <? ?> then <body> just like that simple, but the display can't show horizontally. =<

so sad... any idea ???

Don't listen to these frames things, they don't understand you.

What you should do is FIRST layout your webpage is plain HTML, WITHOUT PHP. If you have trouble with that, go find some HTML tutorials or make a post somewhere else besides the coding board about HTML HELP.

THEN once you get that, break it up into PHP. PHP really has nothign to do with layout and web design, it only outputs the stuff ( HTML / Javascript / CSS / etc. ) that actually lays out the website.

You could do it like this (save the code below in a file called youtitle.php)

        <?php 
        include("left.php");
        ?>
    </td>
    <td>
        <?php 
        include("content.php");
        ?>
    </td>
    <td>
        <?php 
        include("right.php");
        ?>
    </td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>

The above is a simple way of doing it. It would be better to layout your page in 1 HTML file, then cut it into the 3 areas (left, content and right), add your PHP stuff and then have an index.php file like this

<?php
include("left.php");
include("content.php");
include("right.php");
?>

martincrumlish is on the mark, but get rid of any <body> </body> tags in your include files.
