[Resolved] Testing Locally using dreamweaver and php

I am trying to set up a site on this machine using php, I want to be able to test my pages locally before I upload them to my hosts server. I am using dreamweaver mx.

I am having trouble with the preview in browser with any pages with a .php extention.

The problem is that the page just hangs and doesnt load.

I am running winxp pro and I installed this version of php.

Is there anything I have to do other then just run thru the install to allow me to test locally ? I have my site in my C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\phpsite folder and I can test and preview htm pages from this location.

I found an answer that worked for me, there is something called easywindows, its an installer for windows machines and worked for me. You can find it at the link below

You never said which webserver you was using and i would usually assume IIS 6.0 as you have windows XP however you seem to have downloaded thepackage for apache 2.0 which makes me thing you are using that.

In any case sometimes u have to install a few files seperatly at least i did i cant remembe rthe names of them and am at work so dont have access to the files here.

those are better than dreamweaver for php.

dont think that was his questiona nd personally i think dreamweaver mx does the job a treat and the code looks very good with its colour coding

dreamweaver sucks and takes to long to start up. The only reason people use it because it adds HTML and if you need help coding HTML I feel sorry for you.

Zend Studio is the best.

Dreamweaver takes no time at all to start up unless you using a 486 in which case i indeed feel sorry for you! People dont use it because it adds HTML because if that was the case we'd all be using frontpage, people use it because of its linking with other macromedia products (firewaorks and flash) and because of the easily identifiable code (i.e. you can spot PHP much quicker compared to HTML) the extensions you can get are useful and all in all it's a easy to use program.

Lastly, the only other program id use to code with is notepad!!!
