PHP settings question

I'm trying to setup a simple mail php script on a clients server. I have done a few of these before. However even when I try to get the php info using <?php phpinfo();?> nothing shows up.

When I go to the hosting companies support site it give this information regarding there PHP setup

"The PHP scripting engine running on the UNIX server is 4.2.3. The version on the Frontpage server is 4.0.1 Make sure that your script takes into account that we are running with Register Globals=Off and Safe Mode=On."

Is there something different I would have to do with this setup to get a simple form to email php script to work?

more likely PHP is set not to display with phpinfo()

ok, however whenever I try to run my script it will not send the email.

So I try the tutorial scripts such as

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>Hello World in PHP</title>

</head>
<body>
<?php echo "<p>Hello, World!</p>"; ?>
</body>
</html>

no success.

Any ideas?

I actually had the impression that phpinfo() should always be available, and expose_php=off wont affect it very much.

dont quite get why it isnt even available.

anyway, it probably is a good idea to test with a hello world script, like you suggested.

Thanks laserlight. I have tried the script and nothing appears at all!

in that case you should report to the hosting company that PHP isnt working.

The hello world script doesnt use superglobals and definitely should run under safe mode, so assuming the PHP script was placed under document root, it should run.

Since it doesnt, it must be a problem with the server.

There was a problem that they fixed.

Now if I could only trouble you for one more thing.

The PHP script now executes, however I do not receive an email.

Here is the script ( I have removed alot of the body info as it is not relevant)

Where is my error?

Personally I've found mail() to be somewhat inconsistent, and it could be disabled.

I'm not sure if the script has a problem or if it is mail() acting up, sorry.
