Not sure where I should ask this question....
My webhost is not pushing to help us much...or so it seems....
I'm currently running Infopop UBB Threads v6.3.1 on a shared web server that runs Win NT v5.0 with php v4.2.3.
The problem I'm having is that I would like to run a program called Photopost PHP and here are the requirements:
http://www.photopost.com/requirephp.html
It shows that I need GD Graphics Library installed on php. I've looked at the php info file and my webhost does not have GD installed.
So, I've sent in a request asking that he install the upgraded version which is recommended by php.net
PHP 4.3.2 Released!
[29-May-2003] The PHP developers are proud to announce the immediate availability of PHP 4.3.2. This release contains a large number of bug fixes and is a strongly recommended update for all users of PHP. Full list of fixes can be found in the NEWS file.
The rest of the reading for this version can be found at: http://www.php.net/release_4_3_2.php
Now, as I've mentioned...I've contacted my webhost to ask he install this upgrade which does come bundled with GD2 from my understanding however, he tells me that he has to pay to install this on his webserver.
Now, this is where I'm confused....I thought that this was a free program to use. 😕 I'm feeling as though he does not want to install this program and I don't understand why. He also said that this install would affect several sites.....not sure how this would seeing how there's only 2 sites that are operating off of php on this particular server as he's stated to me less than a few weeks ago.
My question to you is....is php free to use on a commercial webserver?
Thank you guys... 😉
