Help on Apache settings ...

First of all, I do thank you, in advance, all your help and assistance ...

I am both PHP and Apache (2.0) beginner ...

Right, Apache 2.0 is running on my Windows XP (as a service). I have been playing with the httpd file and reading some Apache tutorials such as
Virtual Hosts, .htaccess files and so on ...

Since I have not got a registered DNS name it is not clear to me,so far, how can I deploy a sample web site such as www.pepetron.com (what ever) in such a way that I type such a URL in my browser (offline) and my simple index.html is shown ...

Could you give me a hand with such a dummy question? ...

I played around with this for a while and bashed my head against the table for hours.

My resolution is that XP doesn't have what Windows Server 2000 had: DNS

What you need to do is download bind for XP (www.bind.com) that will act as your dns and you can create your own dns entries.
