Mysql 4.1 - PHP 4.3.3 DB Help

I am starting a new product and new many of the functions of MySql 4.1.

I have read that both PHP 4.3.3 does support mysql 4.1 and that it does not. I even found an article with installation instructions. --mysqli- to install.

Does anyone know what specifically has to be done to get mysql 4.1 working with php 4.3.3 during the installation.

Also, I am curious as to hear what others think. Should I roll back to mysql 4 and develop against it and PHP 4.3.3 or move up to 4.1 which mysql suggests for new development.
