Hi.
Anyone who can help me find this is my friend for total life:
I need a Rich Text Editor (RTE) script for my newspaper classified advertising application, and I'm having a hard time finding one that does what I want.
I'm ready to mess around with code to make one work the way I want. Those that work closest to the way I want, however, have code that can't be messed with.
I'm ready to pay a reasonable price to make this happen as I want.
Different newspapers have different specs, so I have to be able to preload the editor on a user-by-user basis.
Requirements:
Works within a browser environment.
Cross platform PC/Mac. Choose any browser, but must work on some browser on PC and some browser on Mac.
Capable of processing the following upon loading:
Pull-down menu of fonts from a list I'll provide
Pull-down menu of font sizes from a list I'll provide.
Editing area width adjust to a size I'll provide.
Preloaded formatted text in an editing area from text I'll provide.
Shows formatted WYSIWYG text, but coded text is available for capture to a database.
HERE'S WHERE THINGS FALL REALLY APART:
Must be capable of dealing with INLINE STYLE TAGS. Thus
<span style='font-size:9.5pt;'>Exactly 9.5pt text</span>
should display 9.5 pt text.
this means if it can only handle
<FONT SIZE=smaller>Small text of undefined size</FONT>
It will NOT cut it.
These requirements sound so reasonable, I'm shocked that I haven't been able to find something that I can at least adapt to work. I've been through about 15 off the shelf items I've found on google, and also through the MIDAS based Mozilla stuff which works PRETTY good except that the html SIZE tag is all that it allows you, not 'text-size: XXpt'.
There are a variety of freeware text-editor widgets, and some you can purchase. I just can't find one that does the above.
Just to be clear, since there was some earlier confusion: I'm not offering work, I'm asking if anyone knows where to find the tool I'm looking for.
