String rounding

i need to makea string go to the next line when it is being displayed in a table. so i dont wat this

the foo
bar sat on the
mat

and i dont want this

<nobr>the foo bar sat on the mat</nobr>

because if it is a long string it will keep going

i want it to trim so that every time it reaches the table edge it will start displaying on a new line again.
