php in javascript

hey there,

I am trying to get html grabbed from a file be put into a javascript variable. Below is how i have it at the moment.

maineditor.document.write("<? print $contents; ?>");

But there is a problem with this, it seems to just go through the javascript and print that out rather than just put it into the javascript.

Is there a way to solve this?

I really hope this makes sence to somebody 🙂

#I'm not sure on what else to escape, but if ya need to escape other stuff, do that then.

$fp = fopen("whatever.txt", "r+");
$content = fread($fp, size("whatever.txt"));
fclose($fp);
echo "maineditor.document.write(\"$contents\")\;"; 

?>

Try just escapping javascript inside of php.... 😛
