Quickbooks and PHP can they play together?

Can anyone help me on connecting Quickbooks to PHP? Is there a way? I really would like it to pull the info outta the DB and have it insert into Quickbooks. That would be sweet. I haven't really completed much research but hell thats what this site is about right? If you know anything I am more than open to looking into anything. Thanks!!

This seems a good idea an all

Unfortunately there are some fall backs

1) The server must have the Software installed on there server.

2) The hard part actually connecting to it. Ive never used Quickbooks, so im not sure if theres away of not having to connect and update it in a file or something. If that way isnt possible (Connecting through txt files etc) then im not sure on how you are gonna to insert the data.

Im sure there is someone here that is familiar with the program and may help you a little better than what i have.

I haven't worked with quickbooks in years. However the last time I did we needed to port quickbooks to a larger scale application. What we did was hack their backup file format so that we could read and write quickbooks backup files.

There's probably an easier way now, but I'm sure that way would still work.

Don't know the specifics, but supposedly there is a way to integrate with perl. If that's possible, there must be a way to do it with PHP. I would check the SDK.

From the looks of it, this is possible through the use of the Quickbooks SDK and QBXML.

The server can pass requests and receive replies through standard XML. So with the use of a parser in PHP, this is entirely possible. There are several caveats with this, all of which i am still trying to figure out. It does seem to be much easier to intergrate with Quickbooks Online, but it is possible with Quickbooks as well.

I will post more on the subject when I figure it all out, but you can also check out the SDK available as a free download from Intuit's developer section.

O.K. Let me know. I am not at that job anymore but I would still be more than happy to help anyone out that would like to see this done. I think it would be a great undertaking and could potentially lead to something cool down the road. Heck doing it for the experience would be great!
