Hi,

Contrary to popular requests, I don't wish to convert text to URL's, I wish to go backwards.

Say I have the URL:

<a href="http://www.boo.com">boo...</a>

Now, I wish to convert this to:

http://www.boo.com

To make matters more complicated, it would nice if I could similarly replace e-mail addresses, and the text of the links won't always be "boo..." This would enable me to make great leaps towards making automatic newsletters available both in HTML and plain text.

Found my solution, hope this helps someone in the future.

A more extensive readthrough of the manual's usercomment facility yielded this possibility (required some adaptation), this changes any address from:

<a href="http://www.oxygen-online.org/test/index.php?id=somenum&othervariable=72andahalf">link text here</a>

Into:

http://www.oxygen-online.org/test/index.php?id=somenum&othervariable=72andahalf

$text = str_replace("\"","",ereg_replace ("<a[^>]+href *= *([^ ]+)[^>]*>([^ ]+)</a>", "\\1", $text));
